What the New iOS Update Means for Your Facebook Ads

It’s that you shouldn’t fret

By now you have probably heard the latest news coming from Apple. Small businesses and media buyers alike have been posting about how a “cookie free” internet from the new iOS update will affect their Facebook ads and digital strategies

If you’re an eCommerce business worried about how this will affect your bottom line – don’t fret. There’s still a multitude of ways you can get around the iOS update and develop quality, targeted audiences for your Facebook ads. Here are a few ways to get cookie-free information from customers and prospective buyers.

A New Approach to Facebook Ads:

Ask your audience

Email is your new best friend for collecting customer data. You can utilize your email flows to do so much more than just push products to your audience or follow up with them when they’ve abandoned carts. 

Try sending out emails with questions to get them hand over information about their preferences. Ask your users what they want to hear – is it more product updates? Is it less about products and more DIY? The more they tell you, the more targeted you can get with your Facebook ads and audiences.

As another example, say you have a new product launch coming that comes in both a striped pattern and a dotted pattern. Send an email ahead of the launch asking which pattern they like better. 

Then, when the new product drops, you’ve already got the data you need to personalize your Facebook ads depending on which pattern they like better.

Segment your CRM

Try building lists in your CRM to determine when your audience will be purchasing next. If you’re lucky and already using Klaviyo – they have that functionality already built. Using this AI to your advantage, you can build out Facebook audiences and target customers when they are mostly likely to buy. 

Get them to engage

There are other ways you can try and get your audience to engage and hand over information as well. One way is to build quizzes in places like Typeform or SurveyMonkey. Think of FabFitFun or Fabletics. Both of these companies are masters at leveraging surveys to get their users to fill out their likes, dislikes and color preferences via email and a quiz. Your customers will love the interactivity, and you’ll love the opportunity to gather  all this information in your CRM.

Rock Your Facebook Ads

You may not be able to gather customer information for targeting the same way as before, but there are so many other ways to get the data you need for personalized, high performing Facebook ads, despite the iOS update.
